I have been creating art since the age of two, often spending hours in the backyard with crayons and colored pencils, accompanied only by nature. Although I only enrolled in a few art courses during the final year of my undergraduate studies, I am largely self-taught. My artistic expression is deeply informed by my experience with synesthesia—a neurodivergence characterized by the cross-activation of sensory pathways in the brain. This condition allows me to perceive connections between color, texture, and sound in a way that uniquely shapes my creative process.

Having studied music throughout my life, I naturally associate sounds and textures with the colors and patterns in my artwork. This perspective has allowed me to approach visual art with a distinct and unconventional lens. While I enjoy creating representational work that explores the relationship between a subject and its likeness on paper or canvas, I’ve found abstract art offers me even greater freedom to convey complex emotional and sensory experiences—many of which feel beyond verbal explanation.

During college, I was introduced to ceramics and sculpture through a course that expanded my understanding of texture in three-dimensional forms. I was fascinated by the inherent fragility and unpredictability of the medium—something my instructor, Tabatha Trolli, captured perfectly in her reminder: “everything has a shelf life.” In that sense, ceramic art felt more alive than drawing or painting. One of my favorite aspects of working with clay is experimenting with glazes, which gives me the freedom to explore non-traditional color palettes and surface textures in new and unexpected ways.
